Refurbishment

If you’ve walked past the inn recently, you might have spotted some new signs up on our hoarding …

They’ve been generating a bit of a buzz, and it’s been quite exciting to wander through The Square and hear people chatting about what’s to come. We like to think that we’ve given a few helpful hints, but it’s still great to hear what people might be looking forward to when we reopen next year. These signs will be changing as the months go on, revealing a little more each time about our new look and feel.

Speaking of a new look and feel, all of the internal demolition upstairs is now complete, allowing our site team to start putting everything back together again with brand new materials and giving us a clean slate to work with. Over the course of the last two weeks, our 14 site team members have removed all the ceilings, bathrooms and walls, removed any electrical cables and plumbing ready for a complete refit, and have replaced a number of floorboards. They managed to fill an impressive 18 skips by the end of it all – and that’s before they've started on anything else!

As the Inn is a beautiful 17th century building, we’ve taken care not to remove some of its more original features, including many of its wooden beams. However, given that the building is over 300 years old, we found a few areas in need of some loving reconstruction! We were keeping an eye out for hidden gems from the years gone by, but unfortunately, we didn’t make any incredible finds. It would have been great to find some memories from the past, but we’re looking forward to creating some fantastic new memories when we reopen next year.
