Food and Drink

Despite the world feeling a little upside down right now, we’ve picked out a few of our favourite Cotswolds places from our recently launched Foodie Trails, where you can stop off for a warming drink and a baked treat or two. We’ve even included a few of our insider’s tips!

Broadway Deli - www.broadwaydeli.co.uk - (open for takeaway service)

An independent delicatessen and cafe, there is a reason this place has been around since 2002. The good news is that Broadway Deli is still open during lockdown, so you can still pop along and enjoy takeaway aspects of their service.

You’ll love the historic building it’s located in and with many tables dotted throughout its garden, there is plenty of space to make you feel comfortable. Broadway Deli also sells everything from seasonal fruit and veg to artisan homemade foods, baked goods and Italian produce - perfect to browse after you’ve sipped a freshly made coffee and sweet treat.

Insider’s tip: It’s a great pitstop after perusing all the shops of Broadway.

Burford Garden Centre - www.burford.co.uk - (open for takeaway service)

Burford Garden Centre is a well-known luscious green haven that offers an oasis of calm. It’s warm and cosy cafe is an ideal location for a natter and tea or coffee combined with a tasty bake, and thankfully, it’s still open for takeaway options during this time.

Be sure to take a look around its enticing deli, interiors and lifestyle collections, clothing and astounding plant offerings for unique inspiration for your home. It really is a feast for the eyes.

The Cotswolds Distillery - www.cotswoldsdistillery.com - (online shop available)

Although it is the first full-scale distillery in the Cotswolds and known for making gin and whisky, a delightful spacious cafe awaits here at Stourton. There is a locally-inspired menu and a window looking into the distillery so you can enjoy the view of how they make their famous drinks. Did we mention it is also located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? It is, and you’re welcome!

After your coffee and cake, why not pick up a bottle of your favourite spirit before heading home?

Insider’s tip: The Cotswolds Distillery is dog-friendly so guests are welcome to bring along well-behaved furry friends on leads.

Daylesford Organic Farm - www.daylesford.com - (online shop available)

A hit for shoppers and coffee drinkers, Daylesford in Kingham is known for its acclaimed organic farm shop with its deli, cheese room, homeware, cookery school and spa.

The bakery here offers seasonal cakes and tarts alongside appetising croissants, muffins, brownies and cookies. Teamed with an organic tea or coffee and it’s the perfect spot for an afternoon catch up.

Insider’s tip: The cookery school at Daylesford Organic Farm offers classes so you can learn how to create everything from freshly baked bread to a beautifully foraged feast.
