The team at Cirencester Opportunity Group were thrilled to discover that they’d won a visit from our very own head chef, Chris, following our recent appeal to keep him busy while our kitchen was being refitted.
Chris was inspired to offer his services to a deserving cause several weeks ago and received dozens of nominations, but chose the staff at the specialist group as it is the only organisation of its kind in the area catering for children aged two- to-five years-old with a range of special needs and disabilities.
The team were nominated by the charity’s fundraiser Stephanie Smyth, who decided to spring the surprise as an end of term treat, which also gave Chris some time to plan cooking up a special menu using the same locally-sourced ingredients we favour here at The Old Stocks.
Cirencester Opportunity Group is an independent charity that has been running for more than 40 years and provides integrated education for preschool children with special needs together with support for their families. The group’s facilities include a large playroom, soft play and therapy room, as well as a Forest School.
Chris donned his chef whites and headed along to the group’s base in Beeches Road, Cirencester, to serve up a delicious three-course lunch of chilled tomato soup, Cotswold chicken with lemon risotto and a pistachio crust, followed by chocolate tart.
Stephanie told us that it was wonderful to surprise the team and that it was the perfect way to thank them for all their hard work.
It was an absolute pleasure to surprise the COG team and we were delighted to lend our chef to such a deserving organisation.
