Tucked Away

At Tucked Away – our new company specialising in luxury holiday lettings - our mission is to find luxurious holiday homes in stunning areas that encourage guests to embrace their surrounds and “live like a local”.

We’re proud to unveil our Cotswold Cottage, in Salford, near Chipping Norton, which ticks all the boxes for a truly special countryside getaway.

It’s not only the property that is unique, with the quaint village the perfect place to showcase the authentic local culture and spectacular beauty of the Cotswolds.

From charming country pubs to beautiful walks in nature, here are five reasons why we love Salford (and we’re sure you will too!).

The natural surrounds

Salford is the ideal place to escape into the breathtaking nature of the Cotswolds. Start with a stroll around the picturesque village, taking in the 12th-century village church and pretty cottages, before stepping out to explore the surrounding countryside.

The Cotswolds is known for trails taking in rolling hills, wildflowers and historic towns and villages, and you can discover them on foot or bike. If you fancy a ramble, try the path to Chipping Norton, which follows part of the Shakespeare’s Way trail. There’s also the option to walk to The Rollright Stones, an ancient site of megalithic monuments with more than 5,000 years of history.

Country pubs and stylish restaurants

While the Salford Inn is currently closed, there are plenty of dining options nearby. Chipping Norton, the quintessential Cotswolds town a stone’s throw away, has cosy pubs offering real ale and fresh, homemade food. The Chequers is a traditional pub with a bar area dating back to 1444 where you’re assured a warm welcome and a menu featuring seasonal favourites made with local ingredients.

For something more refined, Wild Thyme offers a private dining service for groups and Restaurant Henne, in Moreton-in-Marsh, features an innovative tasting menu focusing on produce from local suppliers.

Lively towns and plenty to see and do

Salford lies between bustling Chipping Norton (“Chippy” to the locals) and the elegant market towns Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on the-Wold. You can shop and stroll past honey-coloured buildings on the high streets or explore further afield in cultural centres like Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon.

The area has several spas and golf clubs if you fancy a treatment or practising your putting. The Lido at Chipping Norton, meanwhile, is an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by lawns. The water is always at least 23 degrees, so it’s worth a dip whatever the weather.

It’s a foodie paradise

A short-drive from Salford, you’ll find farm shops bursting with the finest local produce. Daylesford Organic, for example, is an award-winning farm shop with everything from fresh fruit and veg to a florist and garden shop. There is a café and wellness spa onsite and the opportunity to book cookery classes and floristry workshops. The popular Diddly Squat Farm Shop, owned by Jeremy Clarkson, is also nearby. It has a full bar and serves “no-nonsense” food with a great view.

If you fancy trying the local tipple, Cotswolds Distillery is nestled in the countryside just 15 minutes from Salford. The first full-scale distillery in the Cotswolds, it creates whiskies, gins and liqueurs and has tours, tastings and cocktail masterclasses available.

Unique accommodation

Our Cotswold Cottage combines all the traditional character of the Cotswolds with high-end amenities and the latest home technology. In the heart of Salford, this three-bedroom property boasts period features like sloping ceilings, exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace.

It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day exploring the idyllic area and ideally located to discover all the surrounding sights. If you’re looking for luxury and the experience of living like a local, book your stay at Cotswold Cottage today.
